Loan sanctioned within less than 10 days

" I did not have a very good experience with my previous education loan taken from a nationalized bank. Moreover, due to time constraints, I started looking for other options, through which the loan can be sanctioned within less than 10 days. I came to know about Credila and approached them. I really appreciate their efforts in sanctioning the loan within five working days just like they promised while taking the required documents. Also, my parents were very supportive throughout the entire process, without whom I wouldn’t have been sitting here in College Station and answering these questions for future aspirants!

Higher education through the family savings or....

A lot of parents bury their entire life’s savings into funding higher education for their children.
This is not exactly the right practice because the burden is felt by both. The parents are now depending on their ward’s to support them in their old age and the ward’s in turn feel `guilty’
about using their parent’s savings for their own purposes. We need to support children by giving them the right advice, providing them a support system and being for them in their good and
bad. We should not be emotional, physical or financial burdens simply because we contributed to their growth. Bringing up children is the duty of the parents and that is what needs to be done. Similarly for children who have utilized their parent’s savings there is a feeling of guilt especially if he or she does not perform well, grades drop or the course itself is not suitable. The child continues to suffer silently and then spends the rest of his or her life worrying about the `poor’ parents. Love should be unconditional and not something which ties and binds the child to his or her parents. Having said that, an educational loan immediately places a responsibility on the ward and he or she knows that there is a performance requirement which is mandatory to obtain a job which is necessary to start repaying the loan. This onus and sense of responsibility is the gift the parents are bestowing on the child as he or she lives in the real world where there will be many similar responsibilities. This is the first step in learning ownership and commitment and this is a great gift. If, however, the parents wish to help the student, then they can opt for a part payment and partial loan scheme which will work well for all concerned.

Today’s economic conditions are quite dynamic, which courses should I suggest for my/son daughter where the risk for employment will be lower.

The word `dynamic’ explains the nature of the economic conditions globally. There is no magic rule by which to state what will be the best option especially when we are looking into the future.
Because the choice of the program is made now, but completion can take anywhere from a year to four years during which time, there can be dynamic changes to economic conditions which in turn impacts the job market.
For examples in the late 1990s computer science was a hot and coveted subject and software engineers were welcomed by some of the largest multinational corporations by offering huge salaries. However, during the dotcom bust which happened in early 2000s, there was a drop in the number of students opting for computer engineering with many of them preferring to go for the tried and tested medical, law or any other degree. Once again during the 2000s, the IT boom happened and once again there was a mad gold rush for engineering seats and during the economic downtown in 2008, the takers for computer engineering seats dropped dramatically, with CET having excess seats in Karnataka!
Thus, while it does make sense to evaluate the job worthiness of a program more importantly the student’s aptitude and interest in a subject is very important as this is key to his or her success later.
Many intelligent students become mediocre performers in a program simply because they are not really interested in the course but want to do it to increase their chances in the job market. If these same students get good jobs, there too they will continue to be mediocre players and for the rest of their lives they will lead a life of compromise – doing something they do not really enjoy simply because it pays them a good salary. This is extremely short sighted and wrong. As employees most of us spend nearly ten hours of our waking time in an office and if we are unhappy doing what we are doing then we are actually wasting our lives.
Thus the criteria should be what interest the student the most. Once this is decided, then the student can succeed in the job environment – down turn or no downturn – because there is always a need for great employees and an employee who is passionate about his job will always be wanted and retained by employers.

How do I choose the right course?

A lot of people opt for courses for various reasons, i.e.,family is in the same profession, it is
prestigious to have a degree in a particular vocation, it is more popular in the job market etc. But are these the right reasons to choose your career? Once the actual course is over, then you have to work on the same lines as the course you opted for. I f this is not something you really like or want to do, you will still need to continue to do it, sometimes throughout your life. The only way to change this is to either go back to studying which means double the effort for single result. Hence the basis for choosing the right course depends on your particular interest, acumen or skill in a particular field. Once you know what you want to do, then you can identify the course which expands on your strength and finally you can identify the right university which offers your particular choice of course.
Then comes the next important factor to be considered when choosing your course – what is the market value for the course and how much are people skilled in a particular field paid. Is this field often affected by economic conditions? A study of these factors will help you to determine the remuneration you could earn from your chosen field of education. In case, the course you choose is not one which is highly paid, studying abroad opens up various options for you. You can choose to study in more than one subject and take more than one course. This essentially means that you can pursue two options – one based on your interests and one which will provide you with viable career options.
Therefore, the choice should be based on what your natural flair in life is and that is the only way that you will be a success in your professional life and also be happy.

How should one choose a country for higher education

A person who suffers from asthma cannot live in Alaska and someone with acute skin allergies should think twicebefore choosing a country which has too much sunlight. Having said that, the choice is purely personal and isdependent on the individual’s choice, options and background. We suggest that the choice should only be based on one factor, i.e., which is the course the student wants to studyand in which university is this offered. If there are multiple universities offering the same course, the second line of choice should be based on optional courses, i.e, which university offers the optional courses that thestudent likes to study.Once this decision, is made, there needs to be an alignment between the student’s academic background and the selection processes of the short listed universities. If this is on par, the student should evaluate the course material as well as the university’s facilities and campus to see how comfortable he or she will feel there.Another way to choose could be based on the presence of friends or relatives as (a) these people could do some preliminary research on the university and (b) help the student to settle down. Also these people will be a point of contact for the student. This can be a comfort factor for parents who are worried that their child abroad has no one to contact in case of an emergency.Once the course and the universities are decided, the budget factor will now play a role to ensure that thestudent’s budget matches the universities fees. If this is also okayed, then the student can begin the actualprocess of seeking admission. Thus, the parameter for choosing a university should be purely on the strength of theeducation system and the course offered.“Life in USA is not different from that in India and one should not forget that life as a student is challenging since the education system here is different and it is important to not losing focus in the comforts and luxury of USA.” – Student feedback on studying abroad

Other than academics, what else can a student learn in UK

Independence comes with responsibility. Indian students who live with their parents are accustomed to having theirparents take care of daily activities and chores. Meals are normally cooked, home cleaned, clothes washed to helpstudents to only focus on studies. Living abroad, along with independence, suddenly opens up the world of responsibilities. From buying a loaf of bread to washing clothes, students now need to take care of themselves. In UK, there is the additional complication of mind boggling choices. Even something as simple as a loaf of bread has a bunch of options. Choosing the right one, based on quality, price, provide students with an invaluable, practical lesson in life, i.e., negotiation skills. Negotiation skills are extremely important for people and students learn this naturally in UK. Living in a place like London, can sometimes seem overwhelming – myriad images, people, options, culture, history and atmosphere can leave a person wondering what his or her role in this country really is. It is a place where you establish your own identity and carve a niche for yourself. If you are able to do this with enjoyment, you have mastered the art of perfect living where as a human being you can survive on your own and that is by far the most important lesson you learn from living abroad, on your own.
Transport: Investing in a second hand bike is better than spending money on public transport which can be expensive. However, if you are a student and a regular user of public transport you could invest in a Oyster card which gets you discounted transport rates. Travelling by bus, you become a silent spectator, absorbing the culture, people and the atmosphere around you. London has a great night life and students can make friends and entertain themselves really well here. Shopping in food markets and looking for bargains and discounts to buy clothes will help in terms of money utilized prudently. Life in UK is about learning – not just academics but learning to live life the right way!

INTERVIEW WITH A STUDENT FUNDED BY CREDILA

PRATIK T. MASTER OF SCIENCE (FINANCE), UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK(UK)

1. Other than academics, what else did you learn from the country UK?
The culture of the people living here is noteworthy. The working day begins at sharp
7.30 am and finishes on schedule in the evenings. This gives us enough time to pursue our personal interests and social life. A lot of people hang out together watching football or cricket matches giving a nice variation to a work day.

2. How are the studies in the UK different than the studies in India?
The professors don’t provide spoon feeding. The student has to understand and learn on
his own but guidance is provided and this is good. The faculty motivates students to put in personal effort and pass the grades.

3. Is it worth spending so much money to get a degree from the UK as compared to similar degree in India with lower costs?
It is good to spend because the knowledge and the experienced gained is different.

4. What’s your advice to parents of aspiring students?
Parents should concentrate on bigger universities not only ranking but also by program value.

5. Key things to remember for parents and students while planning for the studies in the UK.
Finance is the most important factor for studies in UK based on university. They should figure out important things before time.

6. How should students select UK Universities? What are the important things to look at and compare among various Universities?
Students should look at research material like the Times of India Ranking.

Campus life in Europe

Europe provides an international, exhilarating experience for students and for a student the opportunity to meet students from all over the world is one of the most exciting factors about studying in Europe. In some cases nearly 90 countries are represented on campus and each student brings a unique contribution to campus life both academically and culturally. Student unions based on geography, religion provide opportunities to belong to niche groups within the overall structure. Europe campuses also have international officers to provide support for international students and it is their job to advise and help students in every possible way. European institutions have orientation programmes for international students at the beginning of the academic session to orient them on life on the campus, course timings, life in Europe, food, extra curricular activities etc. This advice and involvement does not end there but continues throughout the course as, qualified counselors and advisors continue to take active roles in each student’s life on campus. This personal touch makes studying in Europe exciting and exhilarating for international students.

Cost of Higher Education in Europe

In UK there are more than 7500 students studying in universities and colleges and every year the number is consistently increasing. Indian students who study in UK prefer Business & Management courses, sometimes engineering, medicine, technology, art and design.

The cost of an education in the UK consists of two areas: course fees and living costs.

It is not easy to compare costs between countries, but since the courses in UK are shorter, the total cost works out less. And since the courses are shorter, the student can start working sooner and start generating income. University education costs can range anywhere between £6,000 and £16,000 depending on the course. Cost of living varies and while living in London is expensive, living in North England, Scotland and other similar places is more cost effective. But to compensate for these expenses, UK offers international students several benefits including

• NUS Discounts

The National Union of Students which offers up to 50% discount on anything from books, stationery and food to clothes, travel and entertainment.

• Free Healthcare

All international students staying in the UK for a period of six months or more qualify for free healthcare through theNational Health Service.

• Part-time Work

If you want to earn extra money, you can work for up to twenty hours per week during term and full-time in your vacations.

“I took the entire loan amount from Credila. I was sanctioned Rs.20 lakhs. I have chosen to take partial amount with me to fund for the first and second semester and initial living. “

HIGHER EDUCATION IN U.K.

Please share some of your experiences of the UK for aspiring students
“UK is a very good place to live in from the job perspective but it also depends on the grades that you get. I have a few friends who were my seniors and they have got good jobs. After completing the course we have two years post study work i.e. we have permission to work for two years
and according to the rules if we get a good job with a salary above 22,000 pounds p.a. then we can get the work permit easily. This is applicable for those who are below 22 yrs old by age, and for those who are above 22 the salary cap they should have is 27,000 pounds p.a. Here the salary depends on the age and the salary increases with age. Even for part time jobs those who are below 22 yrs get maximum 4 pounds and 83 pence /hr and for those above 22 yrs old they get around 5 pounds and 83 pence / hr.”

Rahul.S, Master of Science (Management), University of Glasgow, U.K.

How are the studies in the UK different than the studies in India?
“In Indian education system, students read book, mug up and write their exams. But abroad, software’s are available which does not allow copying and actually tracks answers – their uniqueness and similarity. If for example there is more than 25% similarity between two papers, then the software rejects and the person gets zero grades. One has to think and write. The preparation should be good enough. Not only reading but understanding is really important.”
Thakarshi.B. M.BA (Information Technology).

Please share some of your experiences for aspiring students.
“I will speak about my personal experiences. University Of Leicester is very good. There are lab facilities here, people are ready to help you out anytime even for small things. They help you out for job and for future plans and they guide really well. As compared to other location in UK the living expense is not much.”
Abirami.P. M.Sc. (Infection & Immunity), University of Leicester – UK

Higher Education in Canada

Canada offers a wide choice for international students including more than 89
universities, nearly 175 community colleges and several other technical and
vocational institutions. With a large choice of graduate and under graduate
degree programs, the faculty in Canada can be compared to the best in the
world.

Universities in Canada range from urban colleges, to multi campus and
research focussed universities to smaller campuses each offering specialised
education in fields as diverse as business and agriculture!

Being a bilingual country, Canada’s medium of education is English as well as
French. Universities take an active role in community enhancing activities and
students conduct concerts and plays regularly.

Being a highly academic country nearly 25% of Canada’s research happens in
Universities and students are encouraged to indulge in research projects.
Canada has given the world several innovative contributions including Insulin
(treatment for diabetes), Pablum, the artificial pacemaker, improved strains of
wheat, and the identification of the genetic causes of diseases such as cystic
fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and Lou Gehrig's disease. Canadian researchers
are world leaders in areas such as helping people cope with pain and stress,
improving human memory, pulp and paper chemistry, dealing with the impact
of technology in the workplace, and finding new treatments for cancer,
osteoporosis and arthritis.

There are currently 500,000 full-time undergraduates at Canadian
universities, 200,000 part-time undergraduates, 75,000 full-time and 40,000
part-time graduate students. Social sciences remain by far the largest field of
study in Canada, followed by education and the humanities. Biochemistry and
computer science have been among the fastest growing disciplines at the
bachelor's level in the last five years, closely followed by nursing, sociology
and psychology.

Several universities support students with special needs, including single
parents, women, physical/sensory/ learning disability students, aboriginal
students and even part time students. Some universities offer for-credit
courses aimed at integrating students to university life and studies. Many
universities provide such assistance on an on-going basis throughout the
academic year, with workshops in areas such as essay and exam writing,
study and research skills.

US Education System

The US educational system is totally different from India’s educational
system. US has more than 3300 accredited colleges and universities.

The typical types of programs offered are:

Undergraduate Programs (Bachelors Degree)

First level of post secondary education after twelve years of primary and
Secondary schooling includes four years of education resulting in a
bachelor’s degree. This is different from India where the bachelor’s
program is for three years. Two year programs called Associate degrees
are available for those who do not want to put in four years.

Graduate Programs (Master’s and Doctorate Degree)

Similar to post graduation programs in India, the duration is for a year and
the minimum age for admission is 16 years which includes 12 years of
primary and secondary schooling and four years of college education.

Types of Institutions

There is no central ministry and each institution determines its own
program and has its own admission standards. There are several private
and state funded colleges.

Universities include undergraduate colleges as well as graduate and
professional schools.

Four year colleges are undergraduate institutions offering academic
programs leading to a bachelor’s degree. Community colleges or junior
colleges are undergraduate institutions offering upto two years of
academic instruction beyond secondary school at a relatively low cost.
These offer certificate programs that last for a few months to a year as
well as associate degrees.

Institutes of technology or polytechnic institutes offer specialized
programs in sciences and engineering, in addition to basic sciences,
humanities and the social sciences, at both the graduate and
undergraduate levels.

Accreditation

This is very important as it provides recognition for the concerned
university or program for its performance and quality. This is normally
conducted by non governmental agencies which are called accreditation
bodies.

Semesters

Fall Semester (September/October):
This is the main intake and almost all programs are offered at this times.
More financial aid is also available for this semester and as funds are
allocated for the entire year during this time.

Spring Semester (January/February):
This is the mid-year intake. There is limited financial assistance available
for this semester as most universities allocate funds to projects in the Fall
semester.

Visa & Immigration Center

International students require a visa to enter the USA and for students the
category is F1. These visas are regulated by USCIS, the United States
Citizenship and Immigration Service and the whole process is rather
complicated.

Some of the general requirements to enter USA are:
Health –While no special inoculations are required, unless you recently
visited a country where there was an epidemic. HIV- positive people are not
allowed entry into USA.
Law is important and criminal behavior can result in immediate deportation.
Proof of finance is a must.

The three main student visa categories for USA are:

F1 Student Visa
The F1 Visa is the most popular/ common visa that is issued to incoming
students into the USA. Generally it is issued to students who are coming to the
USA to study on an academic program or to come to learn English as a Second
Language.

J1 Student Visa
The J1 Visa is issued to students who need to have practical training as part of
the academic program, however there is also a large program called the
"Work/ Travel Program" under the J1 Visa where students can come to the
USA for three to four months to gain employment and travel the USA.

M1 Student Visa
An M1 visa is issued to a student who is going to attend a non-academic or
vocational school.

Cost of Education in the U.S.

While the world worries about recession and economic slowdown, students
Cost of studying in the US includes tuition fees and living costs. These can
vary widely depending on the location. At an average, tuition fees can range
from Rs.2.5 lakhs to Rs.20 lakhs depending on the institution, type and
quality of program. Adding to the cost of the tuition fees is the cost of living
which can amount to another Rs.4 lakhs depending again on the choice of
place.
It is important to plan well ahead and calculate the cost at least 12 – 18
months before the program to ensure that everything is taken care of. It is
also a great time to explore scholarships, US government assistance, grants
from private and international organizations and loans offered on easy
interest rates.
One important factor to remember is that students are only allowed 20
hours per week of work during first year of study and this can only take
care of incidentals. This amount cannot be shown as income when
applying for admission and visa. Since this kind of work as wellas the pay
attached to it is not dependable, this amount should not be included in the
total income available for studying in the US.

Life as a student in the US

“We cook dinner at home. Basically all my flat mates
are Indians and we take turns cooking food. Hence
each of us gets to taste different styles of cooking
and great food. Lunch is at the campus and they
provide some great options for vegetarians. “ Says
Krishnan Lakshminarayanan, Masters in Science
(Chemical Engineering) at the Oklahoma State
University, USA.
Since the cost of living on-campus and off-campus is
almost similar a lot of students prefer to live off
campus by sharing an apartment with a few other students. This brings cost down
considerably and also helps to provide companionship.
Describing their lives in the US these students strongly endorse the fact that they
made the right choice and it is the best decision they made in their lives. Echoing a
hope and providing a message to aspiring students, Krishnan says, “Thanks to
Credila, finance which was the biggest hurdle to study abroad has now come down
and any one who is academically sound can explore his or her dreams and study
anywhere in the world.”
Exclaiming about the professional culture, Laksminarayan says, “These people know
to handle their responsibilities very well. And people here respect and trust each
other. This was quite unexpected when I came here. “
Students find that contradictory to most opinions life as a student in the US is better
than in India as people are extremely professional by nature and do not trouble
others. As far as academics is concerned the courses are designed in such a way
that there is really no need for mugging and what is required is an understanding of
the subject making it easier to remember and write during exams.
“I live on campus hence we have common dining and once in a week they have
Indian food, I even bought a micro wave just to prepare some food by my own like
rice etc.” says Arunkumar Ranganathan who is doing his MBA in International
Business from the Thunderbird School of global Management

American Culture and Values

Studying in the United States of America can be a wonderful learning experience. Both in and out of the classroom you will learn and practice the English language. You will also learn much about American life and its sometimes confusing culture.

It's very important to know the values that shape U.S American's attitude and behaviors.

As you consider these values it is important to remember that:
1. U.S. society is made up of a diversity of ethnic groups and cultures that have helped shape American values;
2. Some individuals and groups have a set of respected values that are quite different from those of mainstream America;
3. People's attitudes and behaviou are based on their values.

Some Major U.S. American Values
Equality – U.S. Americans uphold the ideal that everyone “is created equal” and has the same rights.
Individuality – U.S. Americans are encouraged at an early age to be independent and to develop their own goals in life.
Privacy – U.S. Americans like their privacy and enjoy spending time alone. Foreign visitors will find their homes and offices open, but what is inside the American mind is considered to be private.
Time – U.S. Americans take pride in making the best use of their time.
Informality – The U.S. American lifestyle is generally casual. You will see students going to class in shorts and t-shirts.
Achievement and Hard Work/Play – The foreign visitor is often impressed at how achievement oriented Americans are and how hard they both work and play.
Direct and Assertive – U.S. Americans try to work out their differences face-to-face and without a mediator.

American Education and the I20

American Education and the I20

An US University can conditionally admit the student for a particular course based on various parameters, ranging from Standardized Test Scores (GRE, GMAT, etc) to Leadership Qualities. However, it does not release the official document confirming a students’ admission until and unless the student is able to demonstrate financial ability to pay for the first year of the course and continued funds to support the remaining years of education. This official document of admission, also called the Form I20, is in fact a legal document tied to US Immigration Services. The I20 is not only the only proof of secured admission but also forms the basis of that student’s US student visa claim and attempt to enter the US for education. In a nutshell, if you don’t have an I20, you don’t go to the US for education.

Obtaining the I20

“Demonstrating financial ability can be tricky, specially because only a few forms of documentary evidence are accepted by the US University. A typical Indian student has limited options – receive funding from the university in form of scholarships, waivers, etc that are extremely difficult to secure OR document family funds OR obtain an education loan. “Credila loan approval letter was one of the important financial docs which I was holding to get I20”, said Suraj T., studying in SUNY at Buffalo, USA.”

Another student Ajin N. who obtained education loan from Credila and studying in University of Illinois at Chicago, USA said, “Credila gave me the liquidity to go ahead with the fees payment. So the embassy was happy with loan approval letter and the way of funding for mycourse”.

My life as a student at Wichita State University.

Jaswanth R. shares his experience at Wichita State University.

Q :- You have been one of those highly respected lot of students who have been doing higher studies at Wichita State University how does it feel to be at Wichita State University USA?
A :- This was my goal to do my MS from USA and I am feeling good that I am in the right path to achieve my goal.

Q :- Please tell us about which course you are studying and why you chose that course?
A :- I am doing my MS in Computer Science I chose this course because I have done my engineering in Computer Science. Wichita State University provide good course for Computer Science field.

Q :- Why did you choose the USA for higher education?
A :- USA because after doing the course I can get good job as job opportunities here are better than any other countries.

Q :- How is Wichita State University different than any other USA University based on whatever you have heard from your friends about
A :- Our University is famous for networking courses which is a part for Computer Science and National Aviation Institute of research is a part of our University it is one of the best research Institute in USA.

Q :- Are you happy with your decision?
A :- Yes, I am happy.

Q :- Where do you live? On-campus or off-campus and why?
A :- I live off campus because it is cheaper also it just takes 5 minutes from my place to reach the University. If we live on campus then its 2 person per room which is expensive and living off campus we can share room with 3-4 members so that it is cheaper.

Q :- Please share some of your experiences of the USA for aspiring students
A :- USA is very good country for studying. International students are more as you can find more Chinese and Indian students in every University. There will be no problem because all the people here are very friendly and helpful. Here each year there are 150 -200 students who join the MS course however Americans are just 20-30 in numbers as they don’t do MS in large numbers.

Q :- How should students select the US Universities? What are the important things to look at and compare among various Universities?
A :- Presently look at the expenses that the student and their family member have to bear for the courses. Now the situation is not that good in USA as they are cutting down the H1 jobs so they should be prepared if they don’t get a job they should be ready to go back to India. Doing an MS course from any US university is good as compared to India. Here majority gets jobs through consultancy and for getting full time jobs we have to work hard and study well.

Q :- What’s your advice to students who aspire to go to the USA for higher studies?
A :- They should be mentally prepared to live here, if they have home sickness they can’t survive here for first 1 or 2 months as here we have to do each and everything by our own. Situations are improving so we can hope that it improves a lot and we can get good jobs here.

Q :- Other than academics, what else did you learn from the country USA?
A :- I have learnt to live myself - independent. Most of the time here we get jobs in remote areas. The culture here is totally different from India.

Q :- How are the studies in the USA different than the studies in India?

Q :- Why did you choose the USA for higher education?
A :- USA has the best higher education when compared to India though under graduation studies are just excellent back in India. I even had opportunities to study in Australia and UK, but the degree in USA is much more valuable than any other country in the world.

Q :- How is University of Illinois at Chicago different than any other USA University based on whatever you have heard from your friends about?
A :- It is not different majority. It is situated in down town, it consists of good networking, so lots of business people come and talk and the location helps to get the job easily.

A :- I am very much happy. Right now I am working as research assistant which will be definitely helpful for building my profile in future.

Q :- Where do you live? On-campus or off-campus and why?
A :- I stay off-campus in a rented apartment but it is very close to my college campus, I can’t stay off-campus but still it is a private accommodation. I stay off campus because the cost inside the campus is high. So I prefer staying outside.

Q :- Please share some of your experiences of the USA for aspiring students
A :- USA is a great place to be. India consists of more theoretical studies where you have read and learn formulas but USA prefers practical studies like assignment submission. You can actually see what you do. You have opportunity for everything; there are lots of research opportunities. The kind of funding provided for research is good. This kind of funding is not available in India. You can do wonders in USA if you want.

Q :- How should students select the US Universities? What are the important things to look at and compare among various Universities?
A :- It’s a mistake to choose university according to their ranking. Even the universities with high ranking are not good in particular subject. So one should select the university based on department ranking and according to their interested subjects. One should always look at department ranking, funding facility like scholarships and assistantships, location of the university, good networking for good job opportunity as I have done.

Q :- What’s your advice to students who aspire to go to the USA for higher studies?
A :- Same as answer in 7.

Q :- Other than academics, what else did you learn from the country USA?
A :- The things are very casual in USA. The places here are neat and clean compared to India. Life is casual and party mood. It is how you go with the stream; if you keep it up to yourself and be in your limits, then it’s an easy place to live in.

Q :- How are the studies in the USA different than the studies in India?
A :- Studies are more theoretical in India, they aspect you to know all formulas by reading them. But it is totally different in USA. First you need to know the basics. They ask you to do lots of practical assignments, ask to give your views, more practical and learn up to date which help you to go along with the world.

Q :- Is it worth spending so much money to get a degree from the USA as compared to similar degree in India with lower costs?
A :- If you perform well and are serious in your studies rather than having the dream of landing in USA, then yes it is worth to spend so much. You can earn handsomely after completing the course successfully. So one can easily re-pay the loan in a matter of 5-8 months.

Q :- What’s your advice to parents of aspiring students?
A :- If the students are serious about their studies, so the parents should allow them to study abroad. They should not let their children’s dream dissatisfied due to lack of money because money comes and go but education stays forever. So education will definitely help them in future and can easily regain whatever they have invested in studies.

Q :- Key things to remember for parents and students while planning for the studies in the USA
A :- One should be aware of entrance exams like GRE & TOEFL. One should take care of the deadlines of application, be proactive and smart.

Q :- What are the 3 important things you learnt after you entered the USA?
A :- I learned to be always smart as people are much smarter here. Be up to date, can’t stay without learning. You need to know around the book and you. It’s always a practical approach.

Q :- What difficulties you faced to get I-20? What precautions you have taken while applying for an I-20?
A :- I just went with the flow. I went according to the deadlines. I completed all the paperwork on time. So didn’t face any issues. It is better to be early rather than being late.

Q :- How did you fund your higher education? Was it required for you to show sources of funds before you got your I-20? How did you deal with that challenge?
A :- Yes it is required. I managed to get the I-20 based on Bank account balance. Then Credila came in between at the visa time. It has its own value.

Q :- How Credila's education loans Sanction letter help you to get your I-20?
A :- I managed to get the I-20 based on my own funds.

Q :- How did Credila’s sanction letter help you to get your visa?
A :- Credila gave me the liquidity to go ahead with the fees payment. So the embassy was happy with sanction letter and the way of funding for my course.

Q :- What are your suggestions for students who don't have funds for higher education and hence can't get I-20?
A :- I will suggest them to go to Credila, submit the application with required documents and take the sanction letter to get the I-20. I won’t mind spending so much money to get education because once you successfully finishes the course, then you have the opportunity of earning good where you can repay the loan easily within a period of 5-8 months.

Q :- What are you future plans?
A :- My future plan is to get internship. There after working as fulltime job. In a period of 5 years, I'll go back to India as I am having small business in India. I will utilize my knowledge and experience and may start a business or industries.

Q :- What are your views about the current economic environment in the USA? Has it changed anything for the students like you?

In future when the situation gets better then they can come here.

Q :- How should students select the UK Universities? What are the important things to look at and compare among various Universities?

A :- I have learned lot of good things here; I improved my English a lot. In India I used to talk only in Gujarathi even though I did my education from English medium school. Here I have learned how to work hard, how to interact with different people etc.

Q :- How are the studies in the UK different than the studies in India?

A :- Advice to parents, don’t force the students to choose the course, let them decide on the course that they are interested in. My life as a student at University of Surrey

Sujay V. shares his experience at University of Surrey.

Q :- You have been one of those highly respected lot of students who have been doing higher studies at University Of Surrey how does it feel to be at University Of Surrey UK?
A :- I am feeling very good. The only issue was that I had to do a lot of research regarding the course before hastily taking a decision.

Q :- Please tell us about which courses you are studying and why you chose that course?
A :- Internet computing because I wanted to pursue my future in the world of networking. Since I had a good idea of networking, I knew that this would be the field for me. The course wasn’t difficult, however I faced issues with software coding since it wasn’t my forte.

Q :- Why did you choose the UK for higher education?
A :- UK had a better market than other countries during the time I made my decision for further studies. There are lots of Indians in UK as well. The second reason I chose UK was because I had the assistance of my friend who came along with me for his higher studies.

Q :- How is University of Surrey different than any other UK University based on whatever you have heard from your friends about?
A :- There is no much difference among the top universities and it only depends on the course each university provides. The only point you need to understand is that the style of education is very different from the Indian education system. I got good guidance in choosing the university from websites like times good university ratings.

Q :- Are you happy with your decision?
A :- That is a difficult question to answer. I’m not totally satisfied however partly satisfied. It was due to lack of time spent on researching, the top courses offered by different universities.

Q :- Where do you live? On-campus or off-campus and why?
A :- I lived on campus because it was my first time in UK. I never had any idea about what to do and where to live. So simply chose to stay on campus just like another overseas student.

Q :- Please share some of your experiences of the UK for aspiring students
A :- UK is a great place for studies. The education provided is pretty good in terms of standard in teaching at universities. They have well equipped labs and other facilities like huge libraries and 24/7 access to departments. Technical assessment and assignments replaces the traditional examination systems. One needs to have a strong hold in English, if they want to study in UK.

Q :- How should students select the UK Universities? What are the important things to look at and compare among various Universities?
A :- Checking the rank and quality of university should always be the first priority. To achieve this, timely investment in research on courses and universities.

Q :- What’s your advice to students who aspire to go to the UK for higher studies?
A :- UK is the best place to study, however students should beware of black marked universities. There are lots of universities which are not reputed and are black listed. Before making any decisions it is important to check the ranking of the university and also the different services provided by the university. Don’t expect to be spoon-fed as in India. Also, one needs to find out, how good is the environment of the university? This can be checked from the previous students who have pursued their studies from that particular university.

Q :- Other than academics, what else did you learn from the country UK?
A :- I was exposed to an international environment, felt the different culture, got to learn lot of new things and overall it was a very good experience. I learnt a lot which I would have never learnt if I had to do my Masters in India. UK is always a good option to do a Masters.

Q :- How are the studies in the UK different than the studies in India?
A :- The education system is very different from the education system here in India. There are no or less examinations as compared to India. UK universities prefer assignments where a student has to submit lot of assignments for which they are graded against. The study pattern is everyday rather than at last moment. This system is quite helpful and will provide a good experience in day to day life.

Q :- Is it worth spending so much money to get a degree from the UK as compared to similar degree in India with lower costs?
A :- It is worth if you are getting a degree in UK. After completing the course in UK there are a lot of opportunities in securing a job in the UK. This will in turn help you to repay the money or the loan invested in one's study. One can even plan to study in USA at lower costs as compared to the UK, as it all depends on one’s decision.

Q :- What’s your advice to parents of aspiring students?
A :- My only advice would be, is to send their children to UK only if they can afford the price. This will definitely help in improving the future of their children. Otherwise, there are a lot of universities, which offer almost the same level of education here in India.

Q :- Key things to remember for parents and students while planning for the studies in the UK
A :- One should be definite on their choice of the university and the course, as these decisions will definitely be effective in their future. Also, one need to have extra financial support, as one is unaware of the kind of expenses that can emerge once is in UK.

Q :- What are the 3 important things you learnt after you entered the UK?
A :- Every country has its own culture and way of living. Nothing is impossible. The result completely depends upon the hard work put in.

Q :- Did you see the movie 3 idiots? Do you relate to that movie? Please share your thoughts.
A :- Yes I did watch the movie; however I do not relate myself to this movie. The movie has a very nice motto behind it, the concept and thinking of the movie is very different and realistic as well. It resonates a good message to the students of this country.

Q :- What are you future plans?
A :- Currently, I am studying and researching on networking fundamentals and will soon focus on finding a job in the same field.

Q :- What are your views about the current economic environment in the UK? Has it changed anything for the students like you?
A :- UK has definitely been affected by the recession and at present the job opportunities are low, but will definitely get better with time. There is high recession in the UK as compared to India. Currently, India has responded and recovered better. Finding a suitable job in the UK is difficult, whereas one can easily find a job in India. There are lots of students returning from UK due to same issue.

Q :- Any other advice to students and parents?
A :- Parents need to be brave and should be willing to take the risk in sending their children overseas for higher education. This will definitely give the students a good exposure and a better opportunity in the industry.

Q :- Any other references you can give us who can answer similar interviews?
A :- No, currently I do not have any references. I will definitely call-back if I remember any.

Q :- How should students select the USA Universities? What are the important things to look at and compare among various Universities?
A :- Firstly the type of courses that are offered and the research groups at the University. Ranking of the university may be used only as a guideline to determine the chance of admissions or any type of aid though it is not very important. Another factor is the location of the University as being in CA or Texas job/internship opportunities are varied especially for Electrical Engineering.

My life as a student at Kensington College of Business.

Thakarshi M. shares his experience at Kensington College of Business.

Q :- You have been one of those highly respected lot of students who have been doing higher studies at Kensington College of Business how does it feel to be at Kensington College of Business UK?
A :- I feel good. College is good as the number of Indians is high. Environment is also good.

Q :- Please tell us about which course you are studying and why did you choose that course?
A :- I am pursuing MBA. I did bachelors in computer application from India. So for good experience in IT and future I chose the same course.

Q :- Why did you choose the UK for higher education?
A :- I have been working for One and half years earlier in UK. So was quite aware of the environment and culture of UK.

Q :- How is Kensington College of Business different than any other UK University based on whatever you have heard from your friends about?
A :- It is a good university. There are better lecturers and professors. It consists of more Indian people. Also I saved money (around 2000 pounds).

Q :- Are you happy with your decision?
A :- Yes, obviously.

Q :- Where do you live? On-campus or off-campus and why?
A :- I stay off campus. There is no campus in the university. As I was working in UK so I have my own registered property (apartment).

Q :- Please share some of your experiences of the UK for aspiring students
A :- Currently the situation is not good in UK. No jobs available, particularly in London. So the situation is quite terrible. UK won’t be a good choice if is not affordable. If student think that they will work and take care of their expenses then it’s a huge mistake because even cleaner’s job is not available for students.

Q :- How should students select the UK Universities? What are the important things to look at and compare among various Universities?
A :- One can search through internet. Do not believe the agents in India as they are not aware of the situation and environment of the university. Before selecting the course and the university one should be strong on the research.

Q :- What’s your advice to students who aspire to go to the UK for higher studies?
A :- They should be financially strong. They should take care about the expenses from savings. The UK Government is not bothered about the students. They are only interested in earning money. While studying students can’t recover the money which they invested in the studies.

Q :- Other than academics, what else did you learn from the country UK?
A :- Being abroad is always learning. The culture is different, I learnt how to communicate with people, it’s better than USA. Good manners. It teaches you how to be independent.

Q :- How are the studies in the UK different than the studies in India?
A :- In Indian education system, students read book, mug up and write the paper. But in UK online software’s are available which can’t let copy anything from other because the software’s tracks the similarity of answers. If it finds more than 25% material same, strictly 0 marks. One has to think and write. The preparations should be good enough. Not only reading but understanding is really important. So comparatively UK is better than India.

Q :- Is it worth spending so much money to get a degree from the UK as compared to similar degree in India with lower costs?
A :- Yes, it is worth investing because after completion of the course in UK, one is benefited more than India in terms of future as well as quality. So investing Rs.5 to 7 lakhs in UK is worth.

Q :- What’s your advice to parents of aspiring students?
